John Edwin “JJ” Jeffrey, 87, of Morgantown, West Virginia, died at 6:10 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

He was born Friday, April 12, 1929 on Bethel Road in Maidsville,West Virginia, a son of the late David Henry Jeffrey and Margaret Pierce Jeffrey.

Mr. Jeffrey was a member of the Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God. He was a member of the Bobtown Local #6159, now Local #1058 and he enjoyed gardening and farming. He worked as a coal miner in the Shannopin Mine in Bobtown retiring in 1989.

His wife, Myrtle Elizabeth “Midge” Snyder Jeffrey, whom he married on June 26, 1949, survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Tammy (Fred) Golden of Maidsville; five sons, David (Barbara) Jeffrey of Alexandria, Virginia, John L. (Nancy) Jeffrey of Morgantown, Dwight (Sharon) Jeffrey of Morgantown, Scott Jeffrey and companion Norma of Davistown and Matthew (Michelle) Jeffrey of Morgantown; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude J. Opolinsky of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are three sisters, Emma Phillips Fox, Vivian Blanche Jeffrey and Margaret Jeffrey who died in infancy and one brother, Leroy H. “Jim” Jeffrey.

Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, Owner/Director, 324 Mt. Morris Road, Mount Morris. There will be additional viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the time of service on Friday, November 18, 2016 in The Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God with Rev. John Jackson and Rev. Fred Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris.
