COUNTY CALENDAR
BAKE SALE – A bake sale to benefit the Alexa Grace Pester Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held on Friday, Nov. 18, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Greene County Courthouse. There will be an assortment of baked goods and sweet treats, as well as chicken and dumplings, strombolis and veggie pizzas. Monetary donations can also be made directly at First Federal Savings and Loan of Greene County. The fund has been set up by the Pester family, whose daughter Alexa was born into heaven on Feb. 10, 2015.
HOLIDAY EVENT – The Daughters of Grace Christian Women’s Choir will perform “Home for the Holidays – Songs of Thanksgiving and Christmas” on Friday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels. This concert will benefit Greene County United Way. Refreshments will be served after the performance.
OPEN HOUSE – The annual Christmas Open House will be held Nov. 26-27 and Dec. 3-4 from 3 to 7 p.m. each day at the Greene County Historical Society Museum. The museum will be adorned in an array of holiday decorations, antique toy displays and a silent auction. Candlelight tours and seasonal goodies will be available during each evening. HOLIDAY EVENTS – The annual Holiday Open House will be held in downtown Waynesburg on Friday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. For more info, call 724-627-8119. And, the annual Waynesburg Christmas Parade will be held in downtown Waynesburg on Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning at 2 p.m.
SUPPORT GROUP – A support group called “You Are Not Alone” for parents and caregivers of adults and children with mental illness will be offered at Westmoreland County Community College’s Greene County campus, located at 100 Evergreene Drive, Suite 102, in Waynesburg from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Attendees will learn about services with the county and will have the opportunity to share their stories or just listen and learn from others. Light refreshments will be served. HOLIDAY EVENTS – The annual Mt. Morris Christmas Craft Show will be held at the Mt. Morris Volunteer Fire Dept. on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. And, the annual Mt. Morris Christmas Parade will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, beginning at 2 p.m.
CRAFT BLAST – The annual Holiday Craft Blast, sponsored by Nathanael Greene CDC, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Homemade soups and sandwiches will be available along with four rooms bringing you the finest crafters in the region. Come out to do your last minute Christmas shopping. Raffle baskets will also be available with a donation from the Steelers of a signed picture of Antonio Brown.
ELECTRONICS COLLECTION – The quarterly electronics collection will be held at the Greene County Fairgrounds’ Arena Barn on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 5 p.m.
