COUNTY CALENDAR
OPEN HOUSE – The annual Christmas Open House will be held Nov. 26-27 and Dec. 3-4 from 3 to 7 p.m. each day at the Greene County Historical Society Museum. The museum will be adorned in an array of holiday decorations, antique toy displays and a silent auction. Candlelight tours and seasonal goodies will be available during each evening. HOLIDAY EVENTS – The annual Holiday Open House will be held in downtown Waynesburg on Friday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. For more info, call 724-627-8119. And, the annual Waynesburg Christmas Parade will be held in downtown Waynesburg on Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning at 2 p.m.
SUPPORT GROUP – A support group called “You Are Not Alone” for parents and caregivers of adults and children with mental illness will be offered at Westmoreland County Community College’s Greene County campus, located at 100 Evergreene Drive, Suite 102, in Waynesburg from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Attendees will learn about services with the county and will have the opportunity to share their stories or just listen and learn from others. Light refreshments will be served. PAJAMA PARTY – On Friday, Dec. 9, the Children’s and Family Literacy Departments at the Bowlby Library will be hosting an After Hours Holiday Pajama Party. Join the library from 4 to 8 p.m. for a viewing of a holiday movie; the library will also share warm cookies and milk, along with games, seasonal crafts and activities. HOLIDAY EVENTS – The annual Mt. Morris Christmas Craft Show will be held at the Mt. Morris Volunteer Fire Dept. on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. And, the annual Mt. Morris Christmas Parade will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, beginning at 2 p.m.
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION – Center Township will hold a Community Christmas Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 10, beginning with a small parade at 4 p.m., tree decorating at 5 p.m. and tree lighting at 5:30 p.m., followed by refreshments and pictures with Santa at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home in Rogersville.
CRAFT BLAST – The annual Holiday Craft Blast, sponsored by Nathanael Greene CDC, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Homemade soups and sandwiches will be available along with four rooms bringing you the finest crafters in the region. Come out to do your last minute Christmas shopping. Raffle baskets will also be available with a donation from the Steelers of a signed picture of Antonio Brown.
EMPTY CHAIR – The 11th annual “Empty Chair at Christmas” Service will be held on Monday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Waynesburg. The service will be led by Rev. Dr. Donald Wilson. Following the service, everyone is invited for refreshments and fellowship. The annual event is sponsored by GriefSHARE, a support group for those touched by the loss of a loved one.
ELECTRONICS COLLECTION – The quarterly electronics collection will be held at the Greene County Fairgrounds’ Arena Barn on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 5 p.m.
