Snyder: Winter clothing drive kicks off Nov. 21

By For The Greene County Messenger 2 min read

CARMICHAELS — State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson, said recently that her constituent service offices will again collect winter clothes to benefit area families, beginning this week.

“The cold-weather gear — coats, gloves, mittens, scarves, hats and boots — donated by area residents stays local,” Snyder said in a release recently issued by her office. “The generosity of residents helps keep our friends and neighbors warm.”

Snyder said winter clothing donations will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 16, at the following times and locations:

n 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Carmichaels office, 104 S. Market St.;

n 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Waynesburg office, 93 E. High St.; and

n 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays at the Brownsville satellite office, 113 Thornton Road, Redstone Township.

All new and gently used items collected will be distributed through the Waynesburg Salvation Army, the Masontown Helping Hands Ministry and Crosskeys Human Services of Brownsville.

“Since we started the annual clothing drive three years ago, hundreds of area families have benefitted from the donations,” Snyder said in the release. “It began in 2013 with just winter coats, but the need and the response prompted us to seek all types of new and gently used winter clothing.”
