Yester leads Vikings to 42-14 win over Raiders
Johnny Yester threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns Friday night to lead Mount Pleasant to a 42-14 victory over visiting Waynesburg Central in the Interstate Conference opener for both teams.
Yester opened the scoring just 1½ minutes into the game when he hit Jake Newill for a 28-yard touchdown pass. About four minutes later Yester found Kalp open for a 68-yard scoring pass.
Ryan Gadagno scored on a 4-yard run to push the score to 21-0 with 3:57 left in the first quarter.
Kalp had the lone touchdown in the second quarter on a 35-yard pass from Yester. Gadagno scored his second touchdown in the third quarter.
George Tetteris pushed the lead to 42-0 with 9:56 left in the game on a 6-yard run.
The Vikings’ Bradley Tait went 7-for-7 in extra points.
The Raiders’ Colin McCracken scored with 3:08 left in the game on a 5-yard run and Dylan Stritchfield closed the scoring on an 8-yard run with just over a minute remaining.
Yester completed 10-of-13 passes, either to Kalp or Newill, for 304 yards and three touchdowns. Kalp caught seven passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns, while Newill grabbed three for 72 yards and a touchdown. Chris Wagner ran seven times for 59 yards.
McCracken carried the ball 18 times for 136 yards. Jacob McCallum caught five passes for 67 yards.
