Cal girls sweep meet at Waynesburg
The California girls were just too deep Tuesday afternoon as the Lady Trojans swept a Section 6-AA triangular at Waynesburg Central.
The Lady Trojans defeated Waynesburg Central, 87-62, and Jefferson-Morgan, 117-22. The Waynesburg boys beat the Trojans, 90-58, and the California boys earned a split with a 99-35 win against Jefferson-Morgan.
The California girls won every event against the Lady Rockets.
Ashley McIntosh (100 high hurdles, 300 intermediate hurdles, long jump, triple jump), Love’ Porter (100), Emma Sprowls (1,600, 800), Anna Elko (3,200), Annalise Gillespie (high jump), and Marissa Bitonti (javelin) all had overall first-place finishes for California. The Lady Trojans swept the relays.
Emma Mankey (400), Juliana Fowler (200), Alexis Baker (shot put), Maddie Brooks (discus), and Keria Fuqua (pole vault) had first-place finishes for the Lady Raiders in their meet against California.
Tyler Rothfus (100), Charles Roberts (1,600), Jaycee Conaway (high jump), and Tim Sheehan (shot put) finished first overall for California.
Waynesburg’s first-place winners against California were Daniel Layton (110 high hurdles, 300 intermediate hurdles, pole vault), Dylan Scritchfield (400), Ben Bumgarner (800, 3,200), Caleb Shriver (triple jump), Avery McConville (discus), and Josh Galbraith (javelin) finished first against the Trojans. The Raiders swept the relays from California.
Jacob VanDivner finished first in the discus and javelin against California.
