Donald R. Broadwater
Donald R. Broadwater, 88 of Jefferson, died Monday, December 4, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born September 14, 1929 in Isabella, a son of the late Charles and Emma Hamilton Broadwater.
Don was a retired coal miner, having worked at Mather Collieries and retired from Eastern Coal Association Company, Federal #2 mine.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a life member of the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson and F & AM Lodge #153, Waynesburg.
On February 11, 1950 he married Marjorie E. Huffman, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Francine R. Broadwater of Wheeling, West Virginia, David R. Broadwater and his wife Nancy of Jefferson, Charles A. Broadwater and his wife Lori of Rices Landing and Gary S. Broadwater and his wife Colleen of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Travis J. Broadwater, Cameron R. Broadwater, Natalie E. Broadwater, Zachary A. Broadwater, Brittany A. Broadwater and Jacob A. Broadwater; four great-grandchildren, Winston J. Broadwater, Alexandria E. Broadwater, Penelope R. Broadwater and Eleanor R. Broadwater.
Deceased are six siblings, Edward Broadwater, Eugene Broadwater, Charles Broadwater, LeRoy Broadwater, Ruth Duke and Wallace “Pete” Broadwater.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017, with the Rev. John R. Dorean officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson.
