COUNTY CALENDAR
CHILDREN’S PARTY – The Brooks-Crago American Legion Post 816 will hold its annual Children’s Christmas Party with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the post home in Rices Landing. All children 12 and under are invited to attend.
SANTA VISIT – Santa Claus will visit the Mason-Dixon Historical Park on Sunday, Dec. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is free to all ages. There will also be games, cookie decorating and prizes for children. Youths will also be able to have pictures taken with Santa. MOVIE NIGHT – Movie Night is held every Wednesday evening at the Eva K. Bowlby Public Library in Waynesburg. The following movies will be shown in December: Dec. 20, “The Case for Christ” at 6 p.m.; and Dec. 27, “Spiderman: Homecoming” at 5:30 p.m. There is free popcorn and beverages for those who attend. FREE CLASSES – Gale Courses, free six-week online classes, are now being offered at the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels. The classes include topics such as accounting, grant writing, computer skills, web design and more. For more info, call the library at 724-966-5263.
BLOOD DRIVE – Carmichaels Area High School will present an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, Jan. 16 in the Carmichaels Fire Hall community room from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter “carmhs” to schedule an appointment.
COLORING CLUB – The Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels hosts its Coloring Club for Adults on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Colored pencils and coloring sheets are available, but those attending are welcome to bring their own. For more info, call the library at 724-966-5263.
4-H CLUB – The Greene County 4-H Engineering and Robotics Club meets at the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels on the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This club is open to all children in Greene County ages 8 to 18. Call the library at 724-966-5263 for more details.
CAMP CODE – Visit the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels on the first and third Saturdays of the month for Camp Code. This class is for children ages 5-8 to learn coding. The one-hour classes begin at 11 a.m. Participants will dive into PBS Kids Scratch Jr. and have fun discovering new ways to solve problems that PBS characters get into. 10,000 VILLAGES – 10,000 Villages, hosted by First United Methodist Church, provides a variety of artisan-made items from third-world countries that help them earn a living wage. It will be located at the Mission House on 146 West Franklin Street in Waynesburg, now until Dec. 22. Hours of operation include Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All forms of payment will be accepted. A percentage of the proceeds will go to support Erin’s InsideOut Café.
COLORING PROGRAM – The Eva K. Bowlby Library in Waynesburg is presenting “Color Outside the Lines,” a program for adults who may be interested in the latest craze of adult coloring books. Coloring books are not just for children. The process of coloring has been shown to be stress-reducing, calm-inducing and joy-producing, for people of all ages. The library will provide coloring sheets and supplies to get you started. Join the library weekly every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library.
CRAFT NIGHTS – The Bowlby Library’s monthly Adult Craft Night is held on the first Thursday of each month and the second Saturday each month. Seating is limited; call the library at 724-627-9776 to sign up or stop by the circulation desk.
WEIGHT SUPPORT – T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a weight management support group that meets every Saturday at the Bowlby Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. New members are always welcome.
