By Jon Stevens, For The Greene County Messenger 2 min read

WAYNESBURG — Greene County commissioners last week approved contracts with three attorneys acting as solicitors for several county agencies and offices.

The board approved a $125,000 contract with Cheryl Cowen for her duties as county solicitor and as the attorney for the Children and Youth Services agency.

Attorney Gregory Hook will be paid $85,000 for duties as solicitor for human services, Farmland Preservation, coroner’s office, and clerk of courts. And, Jeffry Grimes, an attorney for Children and Youth Services, will be paid $33,000.

The commissioners also agreed to pay $24,192 to Widmer Engineering for engineering and permitting services for the demolition of four country bridges

An environmental permit and engineering plans approved by the Greene County commissioners Thursday will expedite the demolition of four county bridges. The county bridges that are slated for demolition include No. 1 near East View, No. 26 on the Franklin and Morgan townships line, No. 87 in Cumberland Township and No. 92 between Morgan Township and the Washington County line. All have been closed for at least 10 years, said Chief Clerk Jeff Marshall, and are at least 100 years old.

In other business, the commissioners appointed Bradley Eisiminger as an emeritus member to the Greene County Fair Board, and also appointed Commissioner Dave Coder to that board.
