Joanne Sands Stephens, age 70, of Lucinda, Pennsylvania, formerly of Carmichaels, died Saturday January 14, 2017 in Shippenville, Pennsylvania, Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Stephens was born November 25, 1946 in Uniontown, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Helen Guseman Tressler.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by her second husband, David Stephens; four children, Jodie Straight (Tom), of Barrackville, West Virginia, Charles Sands, of Monessen, Charlene Juliani (Richard), of Carmichaels, and the Reverend James Sands (Kristen), of Windber; 10 grandchildren, Corey and Lidea Straight, Amanda, Anthony, Sarah, Zachary, Nicholas, and Nathan Juliani, Paige and Ryan Sands; and three sisters, Beverly J. Hemmit, Mary Jane Thomas (Robert), and Marilyn Joyce Camblin (George).

Deceased are her first husband Charles Sands in 1994, a granddaughter, Kelsea Straight, and a sister, Barbara J. Shipley.

She was a former member of the First Methodist Church in Carmichaels, and had attended Good Shepherd Methodist Church in Leeper, Pennsylvania.

Joanne worked at the First Methodist Church ACTS Shop and in the Church Office when needed. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and crocheting.

Family and friends will be received in the Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Paul M. Lesako, Funeral Director/Supervisor, on Monday January 16, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Carmichaels with the Reverend Dayton Mix, officiating.
