Karen Lee Sowden Wise
Karen Lee Sowden Wise, 70, of Greensboro, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, in Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation after a four year struggle with cancer.
She was born September 9, 1946, in Greensboro, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Hazel Rock Sowden.
She was a graduate of Mapletown High School and served on Greene Township Board of Elections. Mrs. Wise attended First Baptist Church of Carmichaels. She was a member of Greensboro-Monongahela Township Volunteer Fire Department in the 1980s.
Her husband, David L. Wise Sr., whom she married August 18, 1971, survives.
Also surviving are four children, Paula Haddock (Tommy) of Panama City, Florida, Jennifer Samek ( Jeff) of Greensboro, David Wise Jr. of Bobtown and Shelby Wise of Morgantown, West Virginia; two brothers, Charles H. Sowden Jr. (Beverly) of Carmichaels and Charles Sowden III of Carmichaels; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Shialey McCarty and Mary Lou McGulla, and her in-laws, Burns and Goldie Wise.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Paul Lesako, supervisor, Robert Lippencott, funeral director, and from 10 until 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, July 15, with Pastor Charles Sowden officiating.
