Rohanna misses the cut
Rachel Rohanna had a better second round Friday, but it was not enough to lift her above the cutline in the LPGA Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning and O-I in Sylvania, Ohio.
The Waynesburg Central graduate shot a 1-over 72 in the second round to finish with a two-round total of 7-over 149. The projected cut was at 1-under.
Rohanna had issues keeping her driver straight off the tee in Thursday’s first round, hitting just 4-of-14 fairways. She managed to do slightly better in the second round with 6-of-14 fairways hit.
“Nope!,” responded Rohanna when asked if she worked out the woes with her driver, adding, “Well, the last two holes I did.”
Rohanna opened the second round with a triple bogey and then scored a bogey on No. 5 to go 10-over for the tournament. She turned things around over the final 13 holes with three birdies and 10 pars.
“The round went a little smoother today, with the exception of No. 1,” said Rohanna. “I finished 3-under on my last 13 (holes), so I’m glad I can come off with a good finish.”
Rohanna was on a roll before taking a break last week while the Women’s U.S. Open was played, but said she needed a break.
“I was pretty tired,” said Rohanna.
Rohanna will be in action next week, returning to the Symetra Tour.
“I’ll do two Symetra events (FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship in Battle Creek, Michigan, and PHC Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) and then take a couple weeks off and head back to the LPGA for a couple tournaments,” said Rohanna.
