n The Bowlby Library is inviting 6-12 year-olds to participate in “Build A Better…Code!” PBS KIDS ScratchJr helps children learn core coding concepts as they create their own interactive stories and games using PBS KIDS characters. As children snap together colorful programming blocks to make their favorite characters move, jump, dance and sing, they will learn to solve problems, design projects and express themselves creatively. The “Build A Better…Code!” program will run six weeks in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program; meetings will be on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. beginning July 13. Call the library to register at 724-627-9776.

n The Bowlby Library is offering a free Creative Crafting Class for Adults on Thursday, July 13 at 5 p.m. As part of the library’s Summer Reading Program, Build A Better World, there will be two recyclable projects from which to choose, using everyday materials. n The Children’s Department at the Bowlby Library offers children a chance to be creative at the Library Lego Club. The library provides the Legos, you provide the imagination. Drop into the library on Saturdays, July 8 and 22 at 11 a.m., and let your creativity flow as you build any number of creations with Lego building blocks.

n It’s Movie Night @ Your Library on Wednesday, July 26 at the Bowlby Library. There will be free popcorn and beverage for attendees. The Bowlby Library will be making its annual trek to the zoo on Saturday, Aug. 19. The cost per ticket is $14 per person (children under 2 are free) and includes bus transportation. n The Bowlby Library offers a free online tutoring database called Brainfuse, which has just recently launched curated lessons and activities in science, math, and writing to help students avoid the “summer slide” that inevitably results from so much time away from school. The Summer Skills Camp can be found in the Study column of the HelpNow homepage on the library’s databases and resources webpage at www.evakbowlby.org.
