Seven to compete for title of Little Miss Firecracker
WAYNESBURG — Seven young girls will participate in the Little Miss Firecracker Pageant at 6 p.m. July 4 at the Greene County Fairgrounds, as part of the Waynesburg Lions Club’s annual July 4 Celebration.
The event is sponsored by the Lions Club and the Waynesburg Sewing Center and will take on the main stage in front of the grandstand.
It is a noncompetitive pageant for girls ages 5 to 8. The participants will appear in patriotic attire and each will be interviewed on stage. Little Miss Firecracker is determined by each contestant drawing a wrapped flower from a basket, with the off-colored flower determining the new queen for 2017. The winner will receive a crown, sash, trophy and bouquet. Each contestant receives a participation medal.
The 2016 Little Miss Firecracker, Alaina Moore, daughter of John Moore and Shannon Fuller of Clarksville, will crown the new queen.
The contestants for 2017 will rehearse on Monday, July 3 at 6 p.m. on the stage.
The contestants are:

There is a nominal registration fee, and winners will be awarded trophies in several classes.
Following the pageant at 6 p.m., live music will be performed by Union Sound Treaty until 9 p.m., when a dedication ceremony will include the presentation of colors by the Waynesburg American Legion and patriotic music led by Kate Graham.
