Charles J. “Jeff” Criss
Charles J. “Jeff” Criss, 70, of Waynesburg, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, in his home.
He was born July 25, 1946, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Robert “Pap” and Ruth Wallace Criss.
He was a 1965 graduate of Waynesburg High School. He was an outstanding athlete growing up, playing Little League baseball with the Eastend Wildcats, Pony League, Moose Lodge, and in high school, played baseball, basketball and football. After high school, he played fast-pitch softball with the championship team Guthrie Truckers, Wayne Lumber and a team in Morgantown, West Virginia. His most loved sport later on was golf and he was the club champion at Rohanna’s Golf Course at one time. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesburg and Moose Lodge 461, Waynesburg.
On July 24, 2014, he married Linda Tiernan, who survives.
Also surviving are two step-daughters, Tracy Sheedy of Moundsville, West Virginia and Laura Mike of Dilliner; six step-grandchildren, Samantha, Hunter, Wyatt, Madeira, Natalia and Nash; a sister, Mardy Rush and her husband Jim of Spartanburg, South Carolina and a brother, Robert Wallace Criss and his wife Carol of Smithfield, New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at Rohanna’s Golf Course, 1005 Rolling Meadows Road, Waynesburg, followed by a gathering of friends and family at 12:15 p.m. in Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461, 140 South Morgan Street, Waynesburg.
