Morgantown man arrested on warrant in Greene County

By The 1 min read

A West Virginia man who was the passenger in a speeding vehicle on Interstate 79 was arrested after police discovered he had a warrant and an illegal weapon.

Reece Dillon Shepard, 25, of Morgantown allegedly provided state police with a false identification card during the traffic stop Friday afternoon in Washington Township, Greene County.

He later allegedly admitted to police he was smoking marijuana with the other vehicle occupants. Shepard was found with a backpack containing loaded .40-caliber handgun, pills, ammunition and a small amount of suspected marijuana.

Police said he had a felony conviction of possession with intent to deliver in West Virginia in 2014, making him a felon not to possess a weapon.

Shepard is charged in two cases filed Saturday before Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson. He is charged with arrest prior to requisition in the first case and prohibited possession of a firearm, firearm not to be carried without a license, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and false identification to law enforcement in the second case.

He is lodged in Greene County Prison in lieu of a combined $40,000 bond.
