John Robert Kennedy
John Robert Kennedy, 84, of Waynesburg, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in the Bay Care Winterhaven Hospital in Winterhaven, Florida.
He was born Friday, June 10, 1932 in Lost Creek, West Virginia, a son of the late John Loman Kennedy and Reva Pearl Bartlett Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesburg. He was a four year Veteran, having served with the United States Navy. He was a graduate of Indiana Technology University with a degree in engineering. For 32 years he worked for Cooper Industries as a Mechanical Engineer building engines, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Kennedy loved fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sharon K. Prior Kennedy, whom he married on Saturday, June 10, 1978.
Also surviving are two daughters, Marybeth (Dave) Butler, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Jennifer Kennedy, of Howard , Ohio; three sons, Richard “Rick” Kennedy, of Mt. Vernon, Robert “Rob” (Lori) Kennedy, of Marysville, Ohio and Brian (Marcie) Scoles, of Waterford, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Frances (Dennis) Townsend, of Landrum, South Carolina and Joyce (Ron) Comfort, of Ellenboro, North Carolina; two brothers, Joe (Cheryl) Kennedy, of Salmon Arm, British Columbia and Bill (Linda) Kennedy, of The Villages, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is one sister, Jean Kennedy.
All services and burial were private and were held at the convenience of the family with Rev. David Lake officiating. Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, Owner/Director, 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, is in charge of arrangements.
