Lawrence John Rigby
Lawrence John Rigby, 67, of Jefferson, died Monday, March 20, 2017, in the emergency room of WHS-Greene hospital, Waynesburg.
He was born February 16, 1950, in Sewickley, a son of the late John M. and McCleese Stevenson Rigby.
He worked for Greene County for over 27 years in the bridge crew department.
On August 27, 1984, he married Esther Mae Harris, who survives. He was “the love of her life.”
He loved hunting, fishing, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, gardening, playing cards and especially playing Yahtzee with his kids and spending time with his family and friends. He was looking forward to going to Deerassic Park, the outdoor expo, in Cambridge, Ohio, in August. He loved his kitty cat, and she loved him.
Also surviving are four daughters, Diane (John) Mentz of Waynesburg, Kimberly (Lester) Keller of Greensburg, Kerry (Brian) Stout of Maidsville, West Virginia and Candice (Eric) Moore of Waynesburg; a stepdaughter, Erica Rutan of Waynesburg; his first wife and mother of his daughters, Dorothy Thomas Rigby; seven grandchildren, Trenton (Caitlin) Phillips, Jeremiah Davis, Jacob McCallum, Jordan Bolyard, Devin Keller, Bianca Genovese and Jerry Keller; five great-grandchildren, William, Richard, Evan, Kara and Braylee; three brothers, Lee (Alberta) Rigby of Delta, Colorado, Lenny (Linda) Rigby of Connellsville and Jack (Pam) Rigby of Mt. Pleasant; Linda (Jim) Nace of Derry and Sharon (Chuck) Tarnovich of Rogers, Ohio; two aunts, Freda Roberts and Jean Corso, both of Carmichaels and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Lawrence John Rigby Jr. and a special cousin, Albert “Fidge” Corso.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 24, in Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Kenny Curfman officiating.
