Lady Raiders open with 12-8 victory

Waynesburg Central scored in every inning Monday afternoon on its way to a 12-8 season-opening non-section win at California.

The Lady Raiders scored single runs in the top of the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Waynesburg added three runs in the top of the second, two more in the fourth and five in the seventh.

Madison Johnson belted a solo home run for the Lady Raiders’ run in the fifth inning. Rachel Elsenheimer had a two-run home run in the top of the third.

Paige Rutan drove in four runs for Waynesburg. Syndey Hare and Bailee Shimek doubled in the win.

Emma Riccutti went the distance for the win, striking out four and walking none.

The Lady Trojans (0-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, single runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings, and two in the seventh.

Losing pitcher Kylie Trusler legged out a triple for the Lady Trojans. Ashley Gush had a double.
