Wanda M. Bokat

Wanda M. Bokat, 94, of Cocoa Beach, Florida and formerly of Carmichaels, died at 8:02 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Carmichaels.

She was born January 29, 1923 in Carmichaels, a daughter of the late Joseph and Paulene Jankowski.

Mrs. Bokat grew up in Carmichaels where, with her husband, John, they raised their family. Wanting more for her family, she began her career in 1960 working for World Gifts. In 1962, she began working as a consultant with Home Interior Gifts. She grew her business over two and a half decades in the tri-state area inspiring thousands of women who were known as her “Bokat Busy Bees”, to decorate their homes and making a better life for their families. Mrs. Bokat retired in 1984 as the senior branch manager for Home Interior Gifts. After retirement, she enjoyed travel and spending time in Florida. Her love for God and her family was the focus of her life. Mrs. Bokat also enjoyed giving to the community and her church. Her belief was “the more you give of yourself, the more you receive”.

On October 19, 1940, she married John M. Bokat, who died December 23, 1976.

Surviving are three children, Charles T. Bokat and his wife, Mary, Joyce B. Peccon and Nita E. Cirota and her husband, John, all of Carmichaels; eight grandchildren, Lisa Morales and her husband, Joe, Michael Peccon and his wife, Scarlett, Jen Leigh Henry and her husband, John, Tony Cirota, Brynn Marie Himes and her husband, Josh, John M. Bokat and his wife, Gabrielle, Ryan E. Cirota and his wife, Andrea, and Barbara Wanda Bokat and her fiancé, Shawn McMinn; five great grandchildren, Danica Titus, Colton Henry and his wife, Erica, Kinleigh Peccon, Brett Henry, Rylan Bokat; a brother, Frank Jankowski and his wife, Delores, of Carmichaels; a sister, Josephine Osborne of Carmichaels and several nieces and neph-ews.

Deceased are a son, Zigmond J. Bokat; two brothers, Walter Jankowski and Zigmond Jankowski and a sister, Jenny Yurick.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, followed at 11:00 a.m. by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels, with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels. A vigil service will be held at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.
