Mikes rout Maples, 16-1
Carmichaels scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back in a three-inning Mercy Rule 16-1 victory over Mapletown in non-section play on Wednesday at Carmichaels High School.
Nathan Broadwater picked up the win on the mound for Carmichaels (2-0). Coach Richard Krause’s hurler had six strikeouts and three walks in two innings of work. Broadwater also had one of the Mikes’ six hits and knocked in a run.
The Mikes’ Dylan Wilson had three RBIs, one hit and one run scored. Teammate Cody Brown had two RBIs on one hits and scored three runs. Carmichaels took advantage of Mapletown’s control issues in drawing 13 walks.
The Maples’ Tanner Griffen had his team’s lone base hit. Teammate Dylan Rush stole two bases. Mapletown dropped to 1-2.
