RUMMAGE SALE – Washington Street United Methodist Church, located at 152 S. Washington St. in Waynesburg, will hold a rummage sale and luncheon on Friday, May 5. The rummage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The luncheon will include potato and macaroni salads; chicken noodle, broccoli and vegetable soups; pies and cakes; hot turkey and ham BBQ sandwiches; hot dogs; cabbage and noodles; pepperoni rolls; and coffee, iced tea and lemonade. CPR TRAINING – The Eva K. Bowlby Public Library is offering free CPR/AED Certification training on Monday, May 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. This program is sponsored by the Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation. Space is limited; call the library to register at 724-627-9776.

SCAVENGER HUNT – Greene County Communities That Care will hold a “Scavenger Hunt” youth gathering for youths in sixth thru 12th grade on Thursday, May 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Carlisle’s Coffee and Sandwiches, located at 78 W. High St. in downtown Waynesburg. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and youths are encouraged to shatter the stigma by participating in a “hunt” for local resources. There will be prizes, snacks and fun.

CLUB MEETING – Town & County Garden Club will meet on Thursday, May 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hewitt Presbyterian Church in Rices Landing. Guest speaker Shelly Nadler will present the program, “Handling Cut Flowers.” Guests are welcome. For more info, contact 724-966-5856.

SQUARE DANCE – A square dance (also line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more) will be held on Friday, May 12, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Center Township Fire Hall in Rogersville. ELECTION DAY FOOD – The Auxiliary of the Center Township Fire Hall in Rogersville will serve food on Election Day, May 16 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Carryout available. Breakfast menu will be sausage gravy and biscuits, and muffins/pastries; lunch menu will be hot dogs, sloppy joes, ham BBQ sandwiches, macaroni salad, cabbage and noodles, kielbasa and kraut, desserts and drinks; and dinner menu (served 4 to 7 p.m.) will be creamed chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes, peas, applesauce, dessert and drink. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under.

GARDENING SEMINAR – Penn State Extension will host a Master Gardeners seminar titled “Raised Bed and Composting” on Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Corner Cupboard Food Bank, located at 881 Rolling Meadows Road in Waynesburg. KICKBALL TOURNAMENT – Colby’s Stars Foundation, Inc. will present the third annual “Kicking Cancer’s Butt” kickball tournament on Saturday, May 20 at the Rices Landing Athletic Club Fields. The tournament is for adult teams ages 16 and older and kids’ teams 15 and under, with 10 to 12 players on co-ed teams. Cost is $25 per person, $250 per team. There will be a concession stand and Chinese auction. All proceeds will assist local individuals currently battling cancer. TEEN EVENT – The Eva K. Bowlby Public Library’s Teen Advisory Group (TAG) is inviting all local teenagers to an After-After Hours on Friday, May 26 from 8 to 10 p.m. Teens aged 13-18 are invited to the Bowlby Library for an evening of music in the library Gazebo. GEOCACHING EVENT – The “Cache Me if You Can” geocaching event will be held through the year, until Dec. 1. The event involves eight recreation sites across Greene County. Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunt game using GPS software. For more info, call the Dept. of Recreation at 724-852-5323.

COLORING PROGRAM – The Eva K. Bowlby Library in Waynesburg is presenting “Color Outside the Lines,” a program for adults who may be interested in the latest craze of adult coloring books. Coloring books are not just for children. The process of coloring has been shown to be stress-reducing, calm-inducing and joy-producing, for people of all ages. The library will provide coloring sheets and supplies to get you started. Join the library weekly every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library.

CRAFT NIGHTS – The Bowlby Library’s monthly Adult Craft Night is held on the first Thursday of each month and the second Saturday each month. Seating is limited; call the library at 724-627-9776 to sign up or stop by the circulation desk.

WEIGHT SUPPORT – T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a weight management support group that meets every Saturday at the Bowlby Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. New members are always welcome.
