Jean Lantz
Jean Lantz, age 92, formerly of Rogersville, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Hillside Nursing Home in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Born January 21, 1925, in Richhill Twp., she was the daughter of the late Ray C. and Laura (Loudenslager) Whipkey.
Jean graduated from Richhill High School in 1942.
She was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church when she resided in Greene County.
She married Robert L. Lantz on May 22, 1946.
In 1956 the couple purchased Robert L. Lantz Funeral Home (now Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC.) and operated it until their retirement in 1985, when it became Rush Funeral Home, Inc.
Jean enjoyed listening to music, reading, and playing the piano. Above all, her family was her pride and joy.
She is survived by her four children, one son, Dr. Clark (Kris) Lantz, of Oro Valley, Arizona; three daughters, Barbara Dill (Marvin) Lewis, of Wake Forest, Rev. Ruth (Rev. Keith) Simmons, of Fayetteville and Rebecca Baily, of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren, Amanda Dill Hines, Scott and James Dill, Shelly Lantz Akins, Rob Lantz, Jennifer Simmons Moss, Laura Simmons Poletti and Taylor Baily; 15 great-grandchildren and one brother, Dale Whipkey, of Carmichaels.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Lantz, who passed away December 10, 2006; two brothers, Darwin and John Whipkey and one sister, Eileen (Whipkey) Smalley.
Friends were received on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville. A funeral service was held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Jarvis, officiating. Interment followed at Centennial Cemetery, Aleppo Twp.
