Eight Greene County volunteer fire companies and the county’s Emergency Management Agency were among 57 volunteer fire departments and first responders throughout Chevron Appalachia’s operating area in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia to receive a $2,500 donation.

Additionally, there are 39 agencies throughout Greene, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland counties that will share in the $143,500 distribution.

Fire companies in Greene County to receive the donation are Bobtown/Dunkard, Carmichaels/Cumberland, Center Township, Clarksville, Greensboro-Monongahela Township, Jefferson, Rices Landing and Waynesburg-Franklin Township.

“Chevron is very proud to support our local first responders and emergency personnel who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. The importance of their hard work cannot be overstated,” said Trip Oliver, manager of Policy, Government and Public Affairs for Chevron Appalachia, in a release recently issued by Chevron. “We also recognize that it’s a privilege to operate in these communities.”

Since 2012, Chevron has made more than 450 donations, totaling more than $1.3 million, to public safety operations in the tri-state region.
