Burglary reported
State police are investigating a burglary at Mudcatz Bar in Dunkard Township that occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Sept. 8. Police said someone forced their way into the bar through a back door and once inside entered the office area and broke the latch on the safe. Police did not say what, if anything, was stolen.
Simple assault
Shawn Edward Martisko, 34, of Waynesburg was charged with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief after he allegedly struck an unidentified woman in the face and broke the windshield of her car at 2 p.m. Sept. 30 at Strope Road near the intersection with Jefferson Road in Franklin Township, state police said.
Batteries stolen
State police said someone went to a construction site on Cook Avenue in Franklin Township between 4 p.m. Sept. 29 and 6 a.m. Oct. 2 and stole four batteries from an excavator. Police did not identify the company.
No injuries
A 20-year-old Florida man escaped injury at 1:30 a.m. Sept. 30 when he fell asleep while driving south on Interstate in Franklin Township. State police said Cameron Shoemaker’s vehicle struck then end of a guardrail, rolled over and came to rest in the median.
