Raiders sweep Section 6-AA quad meet
The Waynesburg Central boys slipped by Beth-Center Thursday afternoon to sweep a Section 6-AA home quad meet.
The Raiders edged the Bulldogs, 76-74. The home team had an easier time against West Greene, 97-46, and Brownsville, 94-53.
The Pioneers lost to Brownsville, 70-56, and Beth-Center, 87-49. The Falcons and Bulldogs will run each other at a later date.
Daniel Layton had a solid meet for the Raiders, winning the 100 high hurdles (16.26), and 300 intermediate hurdles (45.58), 200 (24.29). Layton and Ray Behm both cleared 11-6 in the pole vault.
Waynesburg’s Caleb Shriver (100, 11.77) and the 400 relay (47.19) also had first-place finishes.
West Greene’s Austin Crouse (1,600, 5:09.84; 3,200, 11:52.03), and Benjamin Jackson (long jump, 18-10¾) were the top finishers in their individual events.
The Bulldogs’ Dominic Clutter (400, 57.13), Jacob Sinclair (800, 2:33.57), 1600 relay (4:04.39), Michael Berdar (high jump, 5-10), Ronald White (shot put, 40-3), Jordan Blackburn (discus, 147-5), and Anthony Herman (javelin, 137-6) all had overall first-place finishes.
Beth-Center won the 3,200 relay in 9:43.32.
Nicholas Seto (triple jump, 41-7½) finished first for the Falcons.
