Vatakis throws 1-hitter in 8-0 road victory

Monessen’s Dana Vatakis threw a one-hitter and the Lady Greyhounds pounded out 16 hits Wednesday afternoon for an 8-0 Section 2-A victory at Jefferson-Morgan.

The Lady Greyhounds (2-1, 3-1) scored three runs in the top of the first inning, two in the second and seventh innings, and one in the fourth inning.

Vatakis struck out 18 and walked just one. She also belted a home run. Hannah Yorty doubled for Monessen.

Cait Dugan took the loss, striking out six and walking five.
