Chesney’s single lifts Lady Maples to 4-3 win

Macee Chesney’s single with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Mapletown to a 4-3 victory over California Thursday afternoon in Section 2-A action.

Sara Chory opened the bottom of the seventh inning with a triple to set up Chesney’s game-winning single.

Mapletown (2-0, 4-0) led 3-0 after three innings, but Ashley Gush’s solo home run in the top of the fourth inning and RBI singles by Jenna Jacobs and Karen Watskins in the seventh tied the game.

Madi Blaker allowed just three hits, striking out five and walking one in the win.

The Lady Maples’ Taylor Vanata had a double and single. Chesney also had a double and two singles. Elisa Clark finished with three singles and Saith Burkholder-Walters added a pair of singles.
