Joseph A. Davis
Joseph A. Davis, 88 of Clarksville, died Saturday, April 21, 2018.
He was born September 1, 1929, in Masontown, a son of the late Morgan and Sarah Twyford Davis.
Joe was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
After his service to his country, Joe was an educator and teacher in Jefferson-Morgan School District, where he had a very interesting career path. He started as a custodian in 1954, then became a teacher, athletic director, assistant principal and then principal.
Joe was a 1958 graduate of Waynesburg College and attended West Virginia University and Penn State University, where he obtained a master’s degree in education.
He was a member of Clarksville Christian Church and elder emeritus of the church board. He was also a member of American Legion Post 954, Jefferson, F&AM Masonic Lodge 237, Beallsville, Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Association of Secondary School Principals and Greene County and Carmichaels Area library boards.
On November 14, 1953, he married Lois Beglin, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Mark (Amanda) Davis of Dry Tavern, Keith (Gina) Davis of North Huntingdon, Dale (Adrienne) Davis of Jefferson and Kent (Janet) Davis of Canonsburg; six grandchildren, Brian (Elizabeth) Davis, Lindsey (John) Beabout, Elizabeth (Jesus) Torres, Hilary Davis, Drew B. Davis and Dylan B. Davis; four great-grandchildren, Ainsley Davis, Jude Davis, Jackson Beabout and Layla Beabout; two brothers, Robert (Agnes) Davis of The Villages, Fla., and Reed (Lynn) Davis of Saxapahaw, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a granddaughter, Tiffany Davis; a sister, Nancy Jean Davis; and a brother, Thomas Davis.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 25. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 954, Jefferson. A Masonic service by F&AM Lodge 237 will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
