Bowlby Library announces upcoming events

CPR/AED CERTIFICATION CLASS – Wednesday, May 2 at 5 p.m. The fee for this class is $45 and due at the beginning of the class. Cash or check only.
YOGA CLASSES – Beginners Yoga will be taught by Christa Turner (RYT) of Yoga Precepts three times a month on Saturdays in May at 1 p.m. ($10 per class). The fourth Saturday of the month is “Happy Hour Yoga” for a $5 donation to the library. Space is limited, so call early to register.
CREATIVE CRAFTING FOR ADULTS – Thursday, May 3 at 5 p.m. The May project is a Mason Jar String Art. Cost for materials is $20.
AUTHOR BOOK TALK – Join us on Monday, May 14 at 6 p.m. William O’Flaherty will be sharing from his newest published book, “The Misquotable C.S. Lewis; What He Didn’t Say, What He Actually Said, and Why It Matters.” This event is free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served. LEGO BRICK MASTERS – Meets Saturdays, May 5 at 11 a.m. for ages 3 and older.
READING COMPETITION CLUB – Youths in Grades 4 through 8 are invited to join the Bowlby Team.
TEEN ADVISORY GROUP – The Bowlby Library invites teenagers 13 through 18 years to come to the library every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.
CODE SQUAD – Students aged 6 through 12 years are invited to come join the Code Squad at the library. Classes meet on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. through May 10. Participants will develop cartoons using PBS KIDS ScratchJr. New members are always welcome.
MOVIE NIGHTS AT THE LIBRARY – Every Wednesday evening beginning promptly at 6 p.m. Free popcorn and beverages will be provided. The May schedule is as follows: May 2 – “Peter Rabbit”; May 9 – “Tad the Lost Explorer”; May 16 – “The Lego Ninjago Movie”; May 23 – “Rock Dog”; and May 30 – “Pinocchio.”
KNITTING CLUB – The Knitting Club meets twice a month on the second and fourth Fridays – May 11 and 25 – from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. All skill levels are welcome.
BOWLBY BOOK CLUB – Meets on the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m. New members are always welcome. Book discussion will be on Jodi Picoult’s “The Storyteller.”
BOOK SALE / YARD SALE – Begins Monday, May 14 at the Bowlby Public Library. There will be many good deals on used books and other items.
AFTER HOURS: FAMILY GAME NIGHT – Friday, May 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. Participants will be playing favorite board games. Bring your favorite board or yard games with you to share. Weather permitting.
INQUIRE WITHIN: SPLASH & BUBBLES – Saturday, May 19 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A unique story and activity class focused on the PBS Kids show Splash & Bubbles. Inquire Within programming is sponsored by Chevron.
MOTHER / DAUGHTER NIGHT OUT – Friday, May 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The library will host an evening of fun, including makeup tips, accessorizing with jewelry, manicures, organizing tips, stylish clothing and a cupcake decorating demo. Call to reserve your seats at 724-627-9776.
BOWLBY ROCKS! – Patrons are invited to participate in the latest craze – painting rocks – on Saturday, May 26 from 12 to 2 p.m. This month’s theme is “Bugs.” Bring two clean rocks with you to paint.
LIBRARY CLOSING – The library will also be closed Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day.
TINY TIM TOMATO PROJECT – Children ages 2 to 6 years are invited to come and learn about growing your own tomato plant on Tuesday, June 5 at 5 p.m.
SUMMER READING PROGRAM – The library is currently taking registration for all summer reading programs. Summer Reading Kick Off is June 23 and Summer Reading Story Classes and Summer Reading Quest begin June 25.
