Millis “Mid” L. (Cheek) Bowers, age 82, of Graysville, passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home in Aleppo, with family by her side on Friday, June 29, 2018.

Born July 18, 1935, in Waynesburg, she was the daughter of the late Price A. and Nellie (Chedester) Cheek.

Mid was a graduate of Center Twp. School.

On February 19, 1955, she married Harold “Fuzzy” L. Bowers, who preceded her in death. The couple celebrated 51 years of marriage and raised eight children together in Greene County.

Devoted to children, Mid and her husband, Fuzzy, became foster parents and grandparents. Her home was always open and full of children and family. She was known to show her love with both an open door and an open kitchen where meals and snacks were always available. Her evenings were spent with friends and her Sundays at the Unity Presbyterian Church. Mondays were reserved for her grandchildren, Colton Braddock and Andrea Haldeman.

Surviving are seven children, Dave Bowers, of Graysville, Art (Gina) Morris, of Waynesburg, Bridget (Marty) Haldeman, of Aleppo, Brandy Kisner, of Waynesburg, Louise Clutter, of Washington, Peggy Pritt, of West Virginia and Linda Lough, of Coraopolis; six cherished grandchildren; two brothers, Price A. (Sandy) Cheek, of Waynesburg and Charles “Chuck” Cheek, of Goshen, Indiana and three sisters, June (Robert) Elliot, of Waynesburg, Aldine Whyte, of Graysville and Donna Jean Elliot, of Rogersville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. “Fuzzy” Bowers in 2006; one son, Richard Bowers; two brothers, Roy E. and Wylie F. Cheek and three sisters, Marie Briggs, Louise Tennant and Ruth Tennant.

Friends will be received on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Crawford and Rev. David Lowe, co-officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Twp.
