Penn State Extension accepting applications for Master Gardener Program

By For The Greene County Messenger 1 min read

The Greene County Penn State Extension Master Gardener Program will be accepting applications for their fall classes. Penn State Extension Master Gardeners are volunteers who support Penn State Extension’s educational program in consumer horticulture. They develop their horticultural expertise through participation in educational programs conducted by Penn State University faculty and Extension staff.

They work in a variety of educational settings with adults and children, help with research, write articles, and answer gardening questions, among other projects. The program is designed to provide experienced home gardeners with information and skills necessary to share science based research and knowledge with others.

Training will be held weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. at the Greene County Penn State Extension Office in Waynesburg. The classes begin October 4, 2018, break for the holidays, and end in March 2019.

The fee is $200, which includes a Master Gardener Manual. Anyone interested can call the Penn State Extension Office at 724-627-3745.

Applications must be received by September 1, 2018. You will then schedule to meet for an interview the first week of September, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and decide if this program is for you!
