COUNTY CALENDAR
FISH FRY – Knights of Columbus will hold its annual Lenten Fish Fry at the St. Ann Church in Waynesburg. Lunch will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on the following dates: March 9, 16 and 23. On March 30, only lunch will be served. SPRING SEMINAR – The annual Spring Gardening Seminar, sponsored by the Greene County Master Gardeners, will be held on Saturday, March 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the 4-H Building at the Greene County Fairgrounds. SENIOR EVENT – Waynesburg Senior Center will host its “Puttin’ on the Green” St. Patrick Day Celebration on Thursday, March 15 from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m. Come dressed in green for this party. There will be entertainment, a Chinese auction, refreshments and lunch. Call ahead to make reservations, so the center knows how much food to prepare. Call 724-627-6366 to make reservations.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST – The CBM Cornerstone Ministry Center, located at 381 Willis Road in Jefferson, will host the annual John Humble Memorial Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 17, from 8 to 11 a.m. Donations will be accepted. Come and support the camping and Released Time ministry of Children’s Bible Ministries of SWPA.
SCHOOL FAIR – On Saturday, March 17, the Jefferson-Morgan School District will be holding its 10th annual Early Childhood Fair from 9 a.m. to noon in the elementary school gym. If you have children who are ages 0-5, please make every effort to attend. Light refreshments will be served and every child who attends will receive a free book. the registration process begins for pre-K and kindergarten at this time. District administration, teachers and a host of other child care agencies will be there to answer questions.
SCHOOL EVENT – A “Rockets Marketplace and Flea Market” will be held at the Jefferson-Morgan High School gymnasium on Saturday, March 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open to the public and admission is free. There will be many individuals selling as well as local crafters and vendors. A door prize ticket will be given for each individual that attends. Those interested in signing up as a vendor should call 724-883-2310, ext. 2208, or email jfulks@jmsd.org. Cost is $15 per space, and you must bring your own table.
BENEFIT BRUNCH – An all-you-can-eat brunch featuring pancakes, sausage and beverages will be held on Sunday, March 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Waynesburg VFW Post 4793. No cost – donations accepted. Proceeds will benefit the Waynesburg and Rices Landing Boy Scouts trip to Gettysburg.
MUSICAL COMEDY – Waynesburg University Players will present the musical comedy “The Drowsy Chaperone” March 21-24 at the university’s Goodwin Performing Arts Center. EGG HUNT – The Social Service League will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 24 at West Park in Waynesburg, near Bowlby Public Library. The egg hunt is open to children 10 years of age and younger. The park will be divided into separate areas for five different age groups. Children should bring a basket or bag for gathering their eggs and the Easter bunny will be on hand to greet children and pose for photos. The egg hunt begins promptly at 10 a.m. Rain date for this event will be on Saturday, March 31.
BENEFIT CONCERT – Waynesburg Bible Chapel, located at 800 E. Greene St., will host the fourth annual concert to benefit the Hands and Feet Ministries Mission Team on Saturday, March 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. There will be live Christian music, a silent auction, a brief presentation, door prizes and dessert. All proceeds will go to missions outreach.
SKATE AND DANCE – Skate and Dance Fridays are held at the Mon View Roller Rink, located at 377 Stoney Hill Road in Greensboro, from 7 to 11 p.m. weekly. Skate hours are 7 to 9 p.m. and dance hours are 9 to 11 p.m. Admission is $8. For more info, call the county Dept. of Recreation at 724-852-5323.
YOGA CLASSES – “Yoga for Beginners” classes with Crista Turner are held Saturday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Vine Room at Thistlethwaite Vineyards. Learn the fundamentals of Yoga through gentle stretching and simple poses. Build strength, improve balance, align the body and quiet the mind by creating an overall sense of well-being. Cost is $10 per class and mats are provided.
KNITTING CLUB – The Bowlby Library’s Knitting Club meets twice a month on the second and fourth Fridays. All skill levels are welcome. Call the library at 724-627-9776 for more info.
QUILT RAFFLE – The Waynesburg Senior Center will be raffling off a Williamsburg embroidered queen size quilt. Tickets are $2 each and the drawing will be on Friday, May 11. The quilt is hand quilted by the quilters at the senior center. Call 724-627-6366 to purchase tickets.
COLORING CLUB – The Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels hosts its Coloring Club for Adults on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Colored pencils and coloring sheets are available, but those attending are welcome to bring their own. For more info, call the library at 724-966-5263.
4-H CLUB – The Greene County 4-H Engineering and Robotics Club meets at the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels on the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This club is open to all children in Greene County ages 8 to 18. Call the library at 724-966-5263 for more details.
CAMP CODE – Visit the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels on the first and third Saturdays of the month for Camp Code. This class is for children ages 5-8 to learn coding. The one-hour classes begin at 11 a.m. Participants will dive into PBS Kids Scratch Jr. and have fun discovering new ways to solve problems that PBS characters get into. COLORING PROGRAM – The Eva K. Bowlby Library in Waynesburg is presenting “Color Outside the Lines,” a program for adults who may be interested in the latest craze of adult coloring books. Coloring books are not just for children. The process of coloring has been shown to be stress-reducing, calm-inducing and joy-producing, for people of all ages. The library will provide coloring sheets and supplies to get you started. Join the library weekly every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library.
CRAFT NIGHTS – The Bowlby Library’s monthly Adult Craft Night is held on the first Thursday of each month and the second Saturday each month. Seating is limited; call the library at 724-627-9776 to sign up or stop by the circulation desk.
WEIGHT SUPPORT – T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a weight management support group that meets every Saturday at the Bowlby Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. New members are always welcome.
