Sophie M. Bartowick Stimmell, 79, of Jefferson, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC, Pittsburgh, with her daughters by her side.

She was born August 7, 1938, in Washington County, a daughter of the late Joseph Bartowick and Pauline Martin Bartowick Edgar.

She worked for many years as a waitress in Maryland.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Rowe of Marianna and Christine Grow (Pat Hager) of Pitt Gas; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rose (Pete) Arigoni of Waynesburg, Charlotte Workman of Fredericktown and Judy (Steve) Bane of Fredericktown; and a brother, William Bartowick of Columbus, Miss.

She was married to Kenneth L. Stimmell, who died October 26, 1986.

Deceased are three sons, David Allen Dunseath Jr., Dan Alan Dunseath and Tony Lee Dunseath; son-in-law, Barry Rowe; brother, Joseph Bartowick and a sister, Betty Bane.

At the request of the deceased, arrangements are private and entrusted to Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor.
