COUNTY CALENDAR
SQUARE DANCE – A square dance (also line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more) will be held on Friday, May 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Center Township Fire Hall in Rogersville. ELECTION DAY – The Center Twp. Fire Dept.’s Auxiliary will serve food at the fire hall in Rogersville on Election Day, Tuesday, May 15, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Carryout will be available. Breakfast menu will include sausage gravy and biscuits, and muffins/pastries; lunch menu will include hot dogs, sloppy joes, ham BBQ sandwiches, macaroni salad, cabbage and noodles, kielbasa
and kraut, desserts and drinks; and dinner menu (served 4 to 7 p.m.) will include creamed chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes, peas, applesauce, dessert and drink. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.
LUNG AT WORK – Lungs at Work is launching a new option for black lung testing, and miners from Greene County and the surrounding area are invited to participate. The initiative will offer health assessments, pulmonary screenings, pulse oximetry testing and benefits counseling and assistance with federal Black Lung applications. Join Lungs at Work on Thursday, May 17 at the Carmichaels American Legion in Carmichaels for pulmonary screenings and assistance with federal black lung claims. WTA MEETING – Join the Warrior Trail Association on Thursday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m. for its monthly pot luck dinner meeting. PET EVENT – Pittsburgh PetConnections will be hosting their annual PETCON 2018 Pet and Equine Expo June 9-10 at the Greene County Fairgrounds. There will be adoptable pets, a pet costume contest, exhibitors, dog agility demos, horse demos, giveaways, kids’ activities, food, entertainment, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. Proceeds from the 50/50 and silent auction will benefit the Humane Society of Greene County. General Admission is $8. BENEFIT EVENT – Greene County Walk to End Alzheimer’s will hold its annual Benefit Car and Motorcycle show on Sunday, June 17 from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Carmichaels Area High School baseball field. Free admission for spectators. Vehicle entry fee is $15 for pre-registration, $20 on the day of the event. YOGA CLASSES – “Yoga for Beginners” classes with Crista Turner are held Saturday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Vine Room at Thistlethwaite Vineyards. Learn the fundamentals of Yoga through gentle stretching and simple poses. Build strength, improve balance, align the body and quiet the mind by creating an overall sense of well-being. Cost is $10 per class and mats are provided.

QUILT RAFFLE – The Waynesburg Senior Center will be raffling off a Williamsburg embroidered queen size quilt. Tickets are $2 each and the drawing will be on Friday, May 11. The quilt is hand quilted by the quilters at the senior center. Call 724-627-6366 to purchase tickets.
COLORING CLUB – The Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels hosts its Coloring Club for Adults on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Colored pencils and coloring sheets are available, but those attending are welcome to bring their own. For more info, call the library at 724-966-5263.
4-H CLUB – The Greene County 4-H Engineering and Robotics Club meets at the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels on the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This club is open to all children in Greene County ages 8 to 18. Call the library at 724-966-5263 for more details.
CAMP CODE – Visit the Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels on the first and third Saturdays of the month for Camp Code. This class is for children ages 5-8 to learn coding. The one-hour classes begin at 11 a.m. Participants will dive into PBS Kids Scratch Jr. and have fun discovering new ways to solve problems that PBS characters get into. COLORING PROGRAM – The Eva K. Bowlby Library in Waynesburg is presenting “Color Outside the Lines,” a program for adults who may be interested in the latest craze of adult coloring books. Coloring books are not just for children. The process of coloring has been shown to be stress-reducing, calm-inducing and joy-producing, for people of all ages. The library will provide coloring sheets and supplies to get you started. Join the library weekly every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library.
CRAFT NIGHTS – The Bowlby Library’s monthly Adult Craft Night is held on the first Thursday of each month and the second Saturday each month. Seating is limited; call the library at 724-627-9776 to sign up or stop by the circulation desk.
WEIGHT SUPPORT – T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a weight management support group that meets every Saturday at the Bowlby Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. New members are always welcome.
