Robert H. Phillips
Robert H. Phillips, age 74, of Carmichaels, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 with his family by his side.
Although he battled M.S. for 38 years, he always had a smile on his face and never complained. Bob was a man of great faith.
He was a coal miner and former Superintendent of the Blackville, West Virginia, No. 1 mine. Mr. Phillips retired from Consol Corp. as supervisor of Industrial Employee Relations at Humphrey and Arkwright mines.
He was a member of St. Hugh R.C. Church, Carmichaels, where he served on the Parish Council, as a lector, and an usher. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus J.F.K. Lodge 3569, Carmichaels where he was a Fourth Degree Knight. He also served on the Flenniken Library Board.
He was born October 25, 1943 in Waynesburg, the son of the late Vernon and June Pratt Phillips.
On February 16, 1963, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Jo (Buday) Phillips who survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Robin Emerson and husband Mark; a grandson, the love of his life, Matthew Robert Emerson; a sister-in-law, Cindy Buday Roberts and her husband Bret; a sister, Dianne Nicholson (Ralph); four brothers, Richard O. Phillips, David Phillips (Diane), George Phillips and Timothy Phillips (Pam) and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant brother, Vernon Randall; a brother, Gary (Henry) Phillips and his in-laws, Joseph and Lucy Buday.
Friends will be received in the Paul M. Lesako Funeral Home Inc., Dowlin Ave., Carmichaels, on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. when prayers will be said in the funeral home chapel followed by a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Hugh Church, Carmichaels with Reverend John M. Bauer, celebrant. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Geibel Catholic High School in Connellsville.
