Valent J. Rumancik
Valent J. Rumancik, 91, of Rices Landing, died at 4:14 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in his home, after a lengthy illness.
He was born September 16, 1927 in Crucible, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Shefcheck) Rumancik.
Mr. Rumancik was a 1945 graduate of Cumberland Township High School, received his bachelors degree from Waynesburg College and obtained his masters degree from West Virginia University.
He resided in Cumberland Township all of his life and was a member of the Our Lady of Consolation Parish.
Mr. Rumancik served as the principal of the former Dry Tavern, Pitt Gas and Lippencott Elementary Schools. He retired in 1987 as a sixth grade teacher for the Jefferson Morgan School District. During his education career, Mr. Rumancik also worked as a cashier for over 20 years at the Meadows Racetrack. He enjoyed farming his grandmother’s farm.
His wife of 60 years, Elsie A. Malensky Rumancik, survives. The couple was married on May 10, 1958.
Also surviving are three daughters, Nancy McIntire and her husband, Denny, of Greensboro, Cathy Calabris of Meadville and Patricia Kostak and her husband, John, of Clemmons, N. C.; two sons, Michael V. Rumancik and his wife, Diane, of Binghamton, N. Y. and Thomas V. Rumancik and his wife, Dee Dee, of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Carly, Nicholas, Erin and Josh; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jr. and Lucien; four step-grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan, Richard and Tara; three brothers, John Rumancik and his wife, Lucy, of Albuquerque, N. M., Joseph Rumancik and his wife, Dee, of Canton, Ohio and Paul Rumancik and his wife, Christine, of Bridgeville; a sister, Mary Ann Rumancik of Pittsburgh and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Stephen Rumancik and Michael Rumancik, both who died in childhood and two sisters, Pauline Sobien and Elizabeth Rumancik.
There will be no public viewing and private services are entrusted to the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, 575 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue, PA 15202.
