Making a move

By Samantha Karam 1 min read

Starting today, The Greene County Messenger will now operate out of 32 Church St. in Waynesburg.

The Messenger will utilize the same phone number, have the same office hours (9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) and produce the same content. The only aspect that will change is the location of the office.

The Greene County Messenger’s new location has a history of providing news to Greene County residents.

Construction for the building began in 1939. The building opened to the public in 1940 and housed the Democrat Messenger, Waynesburg’s first daily newspaper. The Democrat Messenger was later purchased by the Observer-Reporter. Production and printing of the Democrat Messenger ceased in 1986, while the Observer-Reporter’s production continued at offices in both Washington County and this building here in Waynesburg.

The Messenger will share the building with both Habitat for Humanity and The Observer-Reporter.
