Lady Maples keep playoff hopes alive

The Mapletown girls volleyball team kept their hope of a Section 2-A playoff berth alive Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory at Bentworth.

The Lady Maples won by the scores, 25-9, 25-13, 25-10.

Mapletown is now 7-6 in the section and tied with Jefferson-Morgan, who lost to third-place Avella, 3-1, for the fourth and final playoff spot. The Lady Maples close the season with Carmichaels, while the Lady Rockets travel to West Greene. Jefferson-Morgan won both section matches against Mapletown.

Bentworth goes to 0-13 in the section.

Macee Cree led the Lady Maples with 15 assists, seven digs and four aces. Madison Kuis finished with nine digs, eight kills and five aces. Hannah Dusenberry had nine digs and six aces. Kelsi Smith (6 kills, 4 blocks) and Sydney Kuis (8 digs) also had noteworthy performances.
