Lady Raiders hold on for 3-2 win at Yough

Yough’s Natalie Vilchek made it 3-2 with 23:23 remaining in the game Wednesday night, but Waynesburg Central goalkeeper McKenzie Booth made the slim lead stand for a Section 3-AA road victory.

The Lady Raiders improve to 7-1 in the section and 9-2 overall. The Lady Cougars are 4-4 in the section and 5-4 overall.

Kylie Sinn spotted Waynesburg the lead when she converted a Rhea Kijowski pass into a goal just 11 seconds into the match.

Yough’s Amber Biros tied the match 6½ minutes later, but the Lady Raiders regained the lead on Bailey Fudala’s unassisted goal at 12:37.

Brenna Benke’s goal, from a Rhea Kijowski pass, gave Waynesburg Central a 3-1 goal with 29:58 left in the match.

Booth made five saves to preserve the win.

Yough’s Sabrina Hodge turned aside 11 shots.
