Greene County United Way announces new board president
Greene County United Way is pleased to announce the new Board of Director’s President, Lisa Petro. Petro, a resident of Greene County for more than 20 years, has volunteered with United Way for almost a decade and was elected at the board’s annual meeting on Feb. 13, 2019.
“We are delighted to have Lisa serving as board president,” said MaChal Forbes, Greene County United Way Executive Director. “I look forward to how she will use her knowledge, experience and expertise to help us continue to improve and expand our assistance within the area.”
Petro attended Penn State University and earned a bachelor’s in business management/human services. She went on to get her master’s in administration at Central Michigan University.
Currently, Petro is the director of human resources at Monongahela Valley Hospital. She also volunteers with the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association as the treasurer of its executive committee.
“I am very thrilled to be embarking on this journey, serving as the president of Greene County United Way,” she said. “2019 is a year of particular excitement because we will be celebrating our 40th anniversary. My goal is to ensure everyone who hears about the Greene County United Way sees how our efforts tie back to our mission and our community.”
Since 1979, the United Way has changed lives throughout Greene County by bringing people together to raise awareness around the needs and challenges of all residents – young, old, disabled or financially struggling. The organization focuses on programs that improve Greene County by strengthening the families that live within it.
