SPRINGS FOLK FEST – Join in the celebration of the arts, skills and labors of our forefathers at the Springs Folk Festival on Oct. 4 and 5 1711 Springs Rd., Springs, PA 15562, 4 miles north of Grantsville, MD I-68 exit 19. Watch bread baking and weaving demonstrations, listen to gospel and blue grass music, enjoy samplings of delicious food including Dutch sausage. Admission is $5 over the age of 18, $2 children 6 to 18, free for those 5 and under. Cost includes demonstrations, music performances and museum tours. Parking is free. LEGO BRICK MASTERS – Saturdays, Oct. 5 and 19 at 11 a.m. at Bowlby. Lego Brick Masters “Build with a Buddy Month” Bring a friend or make a new friend at the library. Work together to master the building challenge!

JOYFUL HARVEST FESTIVAL – Spraggs United Methodist Church is hosting its annual Joyful Harvest Festival on Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. with a covered dish weiner roast. The hotdogs, buns and drinks are provided. Also, sack races, three-legged races, a cake walk, door prizes and more. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. In case of rain, the event will be in the church’s basement.

SENIOR MONDAYS – For ages 55 & up on Monday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Bowlby Public Library. Theme: Autumn. We will have a guest speaker from Human Services Department & a Halloween craft. We’ll also enjoy a light lunch. Please call to register at 724-627-9776.

BOWLBY BOOK CLUB – Monday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. New members always welcome!

GENEALOGY – The Cornerstone Genealogical Society of Greene County will host its monthly meeting on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the log courthouse on Greene Street. This month’s speaker will be Zack Patton, who will discuss the history of the Village of Time. Doors open at 6:30 and the public is encouraged to attend.

TEEN ADVISORY GROUP – Meets twice a month at Bowlby on the 2nd/4th Tuesdays. This month: Oct. 8 and 22 at 5 p.m.

BOWLBY KNITTING CLUB – The Knitting Club meets twice a month. Meeting times this month are Oct. 10 and 24 from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. All skill levels welcome!

BAGGED LUNCH BOOK CLUB – Meets on the third Wednesday of every month at Bowlby. Oct. 16 is the next meeting at noon; book discussion on The Great Gatsby. Bring your lunch and let’s discuss a great book; new members welcome.

AFTER HOURS: FALL FESTIVAL – Friday, October 18, 4-8 p.m. A Bowlby Library program for families – there will be autumn themed games, crafts & snacks! Alan Irvin will be our special guest sharing Ghost Stories!

FRIENDS & AUTHORS EVENING – Wednesday, October 23, 6 p.m. Friends of the Bowlby Library invite you to an evening of celebrating local authors! Free & open to the public.

PIE & BINGO – Friday, Oct. 25, 6-9 p.m. at Bowlby for ALL ages! Come play several games of bingo at the library; win prizes and enjoy some pizza & pie!

HAUNTED MANSION TOURS – Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6:30-9 p.m. Alan Irvin will be our guest telling his wonderful Ghost Stories, and then join a tour group through the four floors of Bowlby Library, viewing different ghastly spectacles that only appear after dark. You may even encounter Mrs. Bowlby! Be prepared for a creepy, crawly haunted experience! NOT recommended for children under the age of 8yrs.

COOKBOOK CLUB – Monday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. at Bowlby Theme: TBA. If you like to cook, this is the club for you! Let’s get together and try new recipes every month. FMI call 724.627.9776

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING – The Family Literacy Department at the Bowlby Public Library offers FREE After School tutoring and homework help for grades K-12. The literacy department also offers free test preparation for the GED, Civil Service exams, Drivers Licensing and Life skills. Any adult wishing to brush up on their basic reading and math skills can do so at no charge. To make an appointment, or more information, please call the Family Literacy Department at 724-627-9776.

ADULT SUMMER READING – The Bowlby Library invites adults to the library this summer for the “A Universe of Stories” adult summer reading program. We will explore the wonders of our universe and learn about the solar system. Patrons are invited to try something new: learn new facts about space, read a new book, try a new craft, and meet new people! NASHVILLE TRIP – Nathanael Greene CDC is planning a 4-day trip to Nashville on October 2th-6th. Pick up will be in Fayette and Greene County and Morgantown starting at 5 a.m. Cost is $1,100 dbl. per person, which includes lodging, transportation, four shows, four breakfasts, three lunches and one dinner. Also included; tour of the Titanic, Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud, Biltmore Estate Tour with lunch, Smoky Mountain Opry, General Jackson Show /lunch, Grand Ole Opry We will also tour RCA Studio and the Country Music Hall of Fame. BOOK CLUB – Flenniken Library offers an Elementary and Middle School reading competition book club on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 6-7 p.m.

TODDLER TIME – Every Friday from 11 a.m. to noon, bring your child to Flenniken Library for Toddler Time with Miss Norma. We will sing a song, read a book and make a craft. This class is free of charge, but registration is required. Class is open to children ages 1-3.

COLORING CLUB – The Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels hosts its Coloring Club for Adults on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Colored pencils and coloring sheets are available, but those attending are welcome to bring their own. For more info, call the library at 724-966-5263.

COLORING PROGRAM – The Eva K. Bowlby Library in Waynesburg is presenting “Color Outside the Lines,” a program for adults who may be interested in the latest craze of adult coloring books. Coloring books are not just for children. The process of coloring has been shown to be stress-reducing, calm-inducing and joy-producing, for people of all ages. The library will provide coloring sheets and supplies to get you started. Join the library weekly every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 6 to 8 p.m.

WEIGHT SUPPORT – T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a weight management support group that meets every Saturday at the Bowlby Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. New members are always welcome.

SUPPORT MEETINGS – Steps Inside, Inc., 1790 Morris St., Waynesburg coordinated weekly recovery and support meetings for AA, NA and Al-Anon groups, open to the public. AA meetings are: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon at Steps Inside Inc.; Tuesdays, noon at First United Methodist Church in Waynesburg and 7:30 pm at Carmichaels Methodist Church Fellowship Hall; Fridays, noon at First United Methodist Church in Waynesburg and Saturdays, noon at Steps Inside and 7:30 pm at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Waynesburg. NA meetings are: Mondays, 7 pm at Steps Inside; Tuesdays, 7 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carmichaels; Thursdays, 8 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carmichaels; Fridays, 11 pm at Steps Inside and Sundays, 7 pm at Steps Inside.
