Attempted homicide, kidnapping

David M. Clark, 43, of Dilliner waived his charges on Sept. 25 for the attempted homicide and kidnapping of another man in a Masontown home on Jan. 21. Clark was charged with attempted homicide, kidnap, failing to relinquish a weapon on sheriff’s order, receiving stolen property, unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, weapons possession, harassment, conspiracy to commit attempted homicide and two counts each of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Kelly Nichole French, 27, of Masontown was also charged in the case. Clark and French allegedly held a man hostage after they believed he had stolen a cellphone from someone else in the home. Clark allegedly hit the man with a gun after French tied him up with extension cords as Clark encouraged her. Clark eventually let the man go and told him if he went to police or the hospital, people would be watching him. The victim, who came across police as he was fleeing and was admitted to the hospital for two days, had a severe concussion, damaged eye socket, broken nose, fractured cheekbone and a cut that needed 72 stitches to close.

Marijuana

All last week Gov. Tom Wolf urged for the statewide legalization of recreational marijuana. On Sept. 26, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman urged those convicted for nonviolent, small possession and paraphernalia possession marijuana crimes to apply for pardons, stating the state’s Board of Pardons, led by Fetterman, will expedite these applications. On Sept. 25, Wolf said the results of Fetterman’s statewide marijuana listening tour, where the lieutenant governor visited all 67 counties, showed “overwhelming support for legalizing adult-use marijuana.”
