The team from Carmichaels Area High School, pictured here, swept the Innovation Challenge competition, taking home 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

On Thursday, Oct 3, high schools in the area were invited to compete in Waynesburg University’s “Something from Nothing” Innovation Challenge.

Students had one week to create something from plastic bags.

The team from Carmichaels Area High School swept the competition, taking home 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

First place went to Lucas Swartz, Jacob Smith, and Jason McAfee with “Label Man.” Kiara Brozik, Garrett Dice, Scott Adams and Nick Juliani earned 2nd place with “Hand Made Jewelry.” Third place went to Caleb Gallagher, Alicia Johnston, Mason Faddis and Zack Gamble with “Mighty Kite.”
