COUNTY CALENDAR
RUMMAGE SALE – Rolling Meadows Church of God, 595 Rolling Meadows Rd. in Waynesburg, will host a rummage sale, bake sale and dine-in or take-out lunch on Oct. 12 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Lunch includes chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, chili, hot dogs, sloppy joes and more.
BAGGED LUNCH BOOK CLUB – Meets on the third Wednesday of every month at Bowlby. Oct. 16 is the next meeting at noon; book discussion on The Great Gatsby. Bring your lunch and let’s discuss a great book; new members welcome.
PENNDOT JOB FAIR – Oct. 16 from 11-7 at the PennDOT District 12 Greene County Office, 226 Elm Drive, Suite 102, Waynesburg, PA 15370. PennDOT employees will be available to discuss winter service openings within the District. Available positions include: CDL Operators, who must have valid PA CDL Class A or B with the Air Brake Restriction (L) lifted; and Diesel/Automotive Mechanics, who must have a CDL. Computers will be available, and staff will also be on hand to help interested participants navigate electronic application system for both civil and non-civil service opportunities.
AFTER HOURS: FALL FESTIVAL – Friday, October 18, 4-8 p.m. A Bowlby Library program for families – there will be autumn themed games, crafts & snacks! Alan Irvin will be our special guest sharing Ghost Stories!
TURKEY SUPPER – On Oct. 19 at Valley Chapel Church at Brock (139 Church Run Road, Spraggs, PA 15362). Serving starts at 5 p.m. and dinner includes turkey and all the fix-ins plus pumpkin pie and gingerbread, served family style. Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for kids 7-12 years old and free for those 6 years old and under.
LEGO BRICK MASTERS – Saturday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. at Bowlby. Lego Brick Masters “Build with a Buddy Month” Bring a friend or make a new friend at the library. Work together to master the building challenge!
TEEN ADVISORY GROUP – Meets twice a month at Bowlby on the 2nd/4th Tuesdays. This month’s second session is Oct. 22 at 5 p.m.
FRIENDS & AUTHORS EVENING – Wednesday, October 23, 6 p.m. Friends of the Bowlby Library invite you to an evening of celebrating local authors! Free & open to the public.
HALLOWEEN PARADE – Waynesburg Lions Club annual Halloween Parade is set for Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Participants should assemble behind the Long Building in downtown Waynesburg (in the parking lot between High St. and Franklin St.) no later than 6:15 p.m. As in years past, age-group prizes will be presented to the prettiest, scariest and most original costumes. The age groups include pre-school, kindergarten, and first through sixth grade. Waynesburg Central high school and Margaret B. Miller middle school marching bands will lead the parade down High St. which concludes at PNC Bank. All participants will receive a treats bag at the end of the parade compliments of the Waynesburg Lions Club.
BOWLBY KNITTING CLUB – The Knitting Club meets twice a month. Second meeting time this month is Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. All skill levels welcome!
PIE & BINGO – Friday, Oct. 25, 6-9 p.m. at Bowlby for ALL ages! Come play several games of bingo at the library; win prizes and enjoy some pizza & pie!
HAUNTED MANSION TOURS – Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6:30-9 p.m. Alan Irvin will be our guest telling his wonderful Ghost Stories, and then join a tour group through the four floors of Bowlby Library, viewing different ghastly spectacles that only appear after dark. You may even encounter Mrs. Bowlby! Be prepared for a creepy, crawly haunted experience! NOT recommended for children under the age of 8yrs.

PA WOMEN WORK – Pennsylvania Women Work, in partnership with PA CareerLink in Washington and Greene Counties, will launch its proven New Choices program to support local job-seekers in finding new or better employment. Classes are offered at both the PA CareerLink Washington and Greene County locations from Oct. 29-Dec. 3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING – The Family Literacy Department at the Bowlby Public Library offers FREE After School tutoring and homework help for grades K-12. The literacy department also offers free test preparation for the GED, Civil Service exams, Drivers Licensing and Life skills. ADULT SUMMER READING – The Bowlby Library invites adults to the library this summer for the “A Universe of Stories” adult summer reading program. We will explore the wonders of our universe and learn about the solar system. NASHVILLE TRIP – Nathanael Greene CDC is planning a 4-day trip to Nashville on October 2th-6th. Pick up will be in Fayette and Greene County and Morgantown starting at 5 a.m. Cost is $1,100 dbl. per person, which includes lodging, transportation, four shows, four breakfasts, three lunches and one dinner. BOOK CLUB – Flenniken Library offers an Elementary and Middle School reading competition book club on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 6-7 p.m.
TODDLER TIME – Every Friday from 11 a.m. to noon, bring your child to Flenniken Library for Toddler Time with Miss Norma. We will sing a song, read a book and make a craft. This class is free of charge, but registration is required. Class is open to children ages 1-3.

COLORING CLUB – The Flenniken Public Library in Carmichaels hosts its Coloring Club for Adults on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Colored pencils and coloring sheets are available, but those attending are welcome to bring their own. For more info, call the library at 724-966-5263.
COLORING PROGRAM – The Eva K. Bowlby Library in Waynesburg is presenting “Color Outside the Lines,” a program for adults who may be interested in the latest craze of adult coloring books. Coloring books are not just for children. The process of coloring has been shown to be stress-reducing, calm-inducing and joy-producing, for people of all ages. The library will provide coloring sheets and supplies to get you started. Join the library weekly every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 6 to 8 p.m.
WEIGHT SUPPORT – T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a weight management support group that meets every Saturday at the Bowlby Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. New members are always welcome.
SUPPORT MEETINGS – Steps Inside, Inc., 1790 Morris St., Waynesburg coordinated weekly recovery and support meetings for AA, NA and Al-Anon groups, open to the public.
