Rockets hold off Bentworth, 46-39

Owen Petrisek reset the Bentworth record for touchdowns in a season and Jonathan Wolfe become the first Jefferson-Morgan running back to go over 1,000 yards rushing since 2012 in the Rockets’ 46-39 Tri-County South win Friday night.

Wolfe ran the ball 42 times for 272 yards and four touchdowns, and also intercepted a pass and made four tackles for coach Aaron Giorgi’s squad.

Petrisek scored two rushing touchdowns and caught two scoring passes to finish with 19 touchdowns. He carried the ball 11 times for 89 yards and caught six passes for 158 yards.

The Rockets (3-4, 3-7) led 8-0 in the first quarter on Wolfe’s first score, and the teams put up 49 points in the second quarter with Jefferson-Morgan holding a slim 30-27 lead at halftime.

Both teams scored a single touchdown in the third and fourth touchdowns with the Rockets pulling out the difference with a pair of successful two-point conversions.

J-M freshman quarterback Cole Jones completed 8 of 17 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a score.

Owen Maddich caught three of those passes for 74 yards and a TD, and added six tackles and a fumble recovery on defense. Colt Fowler had four catches for 92 yards with seven tackles. Also contributing on defense for J-M were Austin Geho and Colby Ruttan with eight and seven tackles, and each also picked off one pass.

Shawn Dziak carried much of the offense for the Bearcats (2-5, 2-8). He completed 22-of-45 passes for 418 yards and two interceptions. Dziak had touchdown passes of 9, 48, 80 and 22 yards.

Dylan Farkas also had a solid game for Bentworth with eight receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns.
