Rockets roll into playoffs with win over Mikes

Jefferson-Morgan rolled into the WPIAL Class A playoffs with a solid Tri-County South Conference victory over Carmichaels, 42-14, in football action last Friday night.

Jefferson-Morgan (5-2, 6-4) had quarter leads of 14-0, 26-6 and 42-6.

Collin Bisceglia powered the Jefferson-Morgan offense with 116 yards rushing on 15 carries, including touchdown runs of 6 and 4 yards.

Teammate Houston Guesman carried the ball eight times for 96 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also had a 26-yard touchdown pass to Deakyn Dehoet and completed 6-of-8 passes for 93 yards. John Woodward scored on a 31-yard run.

Parker Hewitt and Billy White scored rushing touchdowns for the Mikes (1-6, 2-8).

West Greene 45, Mapletown 19 — The Pioneers scored 24 points in the second half to secure a Tri-County South Conference road victory.

West Greene enters the WPIAL playoffs with a 6-1 section record and overall mark of 8-2. The Maples finished 1-6 in the conference and 3-7 overall.

West Greene held quarter leads of 14-6, 21-12 and 35-19.

Billy Whitlatch scored on runs of 23, 34 and 44 yards for West Greene. Lane Allison threw touchdowns passes to Patrick Durbin (24 yards) and Cooper Chambers (28). The Pioneers also scored a safety on a fumble that rolled out of the end zone.

AJ Vanata had touchdown passes of 8 yards to Colton McKnight and 10 yards to Jeremiah Vick. Evan Griffin scored on a 3-yard run.
