When Krysten DeBolt, 19, of New Freeport first learned that she was selected as the 2022 Greene County Fair Queen, she said she was “really shocked and super excited.”
As early as May and sometimes even earlier, members of the county’s 4-H clubs start weighing, tagging and tending to the rabbits and goats, sheep and steers they plan to take to the fair.
The Greene County Fairgrounds are located at 107 Fairgrounds Road, Waynesburg.

Sarah Calvert of Spraggs was crowned Greene County Fair Queen on Sunday, Aug. 5. It was the first pageant she ever participated in, but everything else was familiar to the 18-year-old.
This year’s demolition derby at the Greene County Fair will look a bit different from what many are used to. According to organizers, it will be faster, louder, harder and bigger. The name of the show fits perfectly with that description: Chaos in Coal Country.

Madison Kovach, 17, daughter of Jeff and Renee Kovach of Jefferson, can't say enough good things about the adventures she's enjoyed after becoming the 2018 Greene County Fair Queen.
One of the fair's most popular forms of entertainment will return this summer. As in past years, guests can attend the Truck and Tractor Power Pulling competitions starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Saturday.
For several years, Chris Higbee and his band have played the Greene County Fair much to the delight of both the fair board and the audience.
This year's Greene County Fair, with the theme "Fairs, Feature, Agriculture" will premiere free mechanical bull riding and a stunt show, said fair board secretary-treasurer Debbie Stephenson.
If one thing can be said about the Greene County Fair, it is consistent. That is a tribute to the dedication of the fair board members and especially to Debbie Stephenson, secretary-treasurer of the fair board, who for the past 21 years has worked tirelessly to keep the fair running smoothly, rain or shine, at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
Ever since she was a little girl, Julie Policz wanted to be the Greene County Fair Queen.
Soon after Bob Blank and two partners founded Power Pulling Productions LLC eleven years ago, the Greene County Fair was one of the first to tap into his expertise.

WAYNESBURG – A county fair just wouldn’t be a county fair without the cacophony of engines roaring and straining to pull sleds loaded with thousands of pounds of weight.
The engines on all sorts of vehicles will rev up at the Greene County Fair starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12 when Croushore’s Demolition Derby kicks into high gear.
WAYNESBURG — Two young ladies will compete on Sunday, Aug. 7, to determine who will be crowned the 2016 Miss Greene County Fair Queen.
WAYNESBURG — The 2015 Greene County Fair has come and gone, leaving behind many fond memories, not only for the many people who attended the fair’s numerous events and activities but for those who were instrumental in making the event a success.
