A Point Marion man is behind bars after police allege he was caught breaking into vehicles in Dunkard Township, fired several rounds at the man who caught him and later attempted to draw his weapon on police.

Joseph Richard Zgela III, 33, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson with robbery, recklessly endangering another person, criminal trespassing, theft, carrying a firearm without a license, retail theft, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

State police Trooper Matthew J. Jardine said the charges were filed after Stephen Zalar of Dilliner found a man, later identified as Zgela, breaking into his wife's car and his pickup truck on Cemetery Hill Road Sunday morning.
