A fingerprint examiner with the FBI in Clarksburg, W.Va., was recently arrested on charges of disseminating child pornography from his Greene County home.

Gordon Raymond Grimes, 43, of Waynesburg was arraigned on Nov. 18 before Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson on three counts of disseminating child pornography and two counts of criminal use of a communication facility. Grimes said he grew up in the Waynesburg house and it has been his home off and on for more than 30 years. He also owns a home with his wife, Barbara Grimes, at 8395 Powell Ave., Stonewood, W.Va.

The charges were filed by the state Attorney General’s Bureau of Special Investigation — Child Predator Section after an agent was able to download files depicting children in sexual situations from the suspect’s computer through file sharing.

According to the affidavit filed by the arresting officer, Grimes agreed to answer questions without an attorney present and admitted to downloading pornography using software that allows the downloads to be shared with others. Grimes also told officers that he understood the difference between legal and illegal pornography, stating the illegal pornography shows children under the age of 18. At least three such videos were found on his computer.

According to the affidavit, one video involved young girls under the age of 12, another showed a girl who appears to be between 11 and 13 years old and the third involved a boy who appeared to be between the ages of 11 and 13, all in various stages of nudity and engaged in various sexual acts.

Grimes was arraigned before Watson, who set bond at $50,000 cash, which has been posted. A preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 21 was continued. A new date has not yet been set.
